Four-city Canadian tour by senior Ambassador of the Palestinian Diplomatic Corps: Afif Safieh

Canadian Friends of Sabeel (CFOS) and the Near East Cultural and Educational Foundation of Canada (NECEF) are pleased to announce a four-city Canadian lecture tour by senior-most Ambassador of the Palestinian Diplomatic Corps and author Afif Safieh.  The tour will start in London on March 6, and will end in Montreal on March 11. Ambassador Safieh’s lectures, entitled "The Palestinian Question and International Law” will focus on the current geo-political realities in Palestine.

Afif Safieh is considered the most experienced and skilled Palestinian diplomat having served in three politically significant capitals: London, Washington, and Moscow. During his service, he was involved in the Stockholm negotiations that led to the first official and direct American-Palestinian dialogue. He has met and interacted with the leading figures of our age from Yasser Arafat, John Major, and Tony Blair to Jimmy Carter, George W. Bush, and Pope John Paul II.

In his recent book, The Peace Process: From Breakthrough to Breakdown, "Afif Safieh is that rare combination of scholar, diplomat and humanist.  There is much to be learned from reading his work – compelling and principled call for examination and engagement." (Sara Roy)

Copies of his book The Peace Process: From Breakthrough to Breakdown will be available for purchase at each venue

This is a free public event – but donations at the door are welcome. Donations over $20 are eligible to receive a charitable tax receipt.  To make a donation on-line to help support this speaking tour, please click here.
