Awni Farhat, products coordinator for Gaza’s Ark, comments: "I sincerely believe in people and humanity – it's such a great feeling when you feel the happiness of the different producers who we are working with. Most of the producers are marginalized women who work in cooperatives to help their families and improve their lives. Gaza's Ark helps them in a simple and direct way. The Gaza Strip is a treasure trove of amazing products such as hand crafts and beautiful embroidery which is why I believe that it is important that borders be opened so these can be shared with the world."
Islam Abu Suaib of the Al-Ahliya Association for Date Production and Development says that the Israeli occupation blockade destroys farms which are very close to the border, badly affecting Palestinian agricultural production, but “Palestinian farmers are still planting more trees in their fields because they take it as a symbol of sustainability and steadfastness. The palm tree survives with the great support of people and projects such as the Gaza Ark Project, that are aware of the value of the Palestinian agriculture."
