On May 31, 2010, Israeli forces attacked the Gaza-bound humanitarian Freedom Flotilla in international waters in the Mediterranean Sea, killing nine Turkish nationals aboard Turkey’s Mavi Marmara and injuring about 50 other activists who were part of the six-ship convoy.
Press TV has conducted an interview with Hassan Ghani, an independent journalist and documentary maker. Ghani is joined by two other guests: Greta Berlin, a co-founder of the Free Gaza Movement from Paris, and Dror Feiler, Spokesman of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition from Sweden.
Video: Israelis used “physical violence” against Gaza boat activists
On October 20th Estelle was only 30 nautical miles away from Gaza in international waters, when armed forces attacked the sailing vessel and went on board arresting the entire 30-man crew. Estelle was hauled to the port of Ashdod and the activists were escorted to a detention center in Holon, a coastal suburb of Tel Aviv.
Contrary to several international media that had reported Estelle was boarded by an unarmed Israeli security force, the Greek legation says Estelle was intercepted by a small destroyer escort fleet comprising 5 vessels, 20 zodiac marine inflatables, 2 water canons, military helicopters and more than 300 men of the Israeli special forces.
The activists say the IDF used physical violence upon their arrest, as well as political and ideological intimidation during their detention.

Besides the suffocating Israeli blockade Israeli naval forces maintain a three nautical mile fishing limit off the coast of Gaza. Fishermen exceeding that limit often get shot at, killed or arrested by Israeli forces.
